About The Medical Center of Central Georgia
The Medical Center of Central Georgia, a designated Level I Trauma Center and Magnet™ hospital, serves the residents of Central and South Georgia, with a primary and secondary service area of 28 counties and representing a population of approximately 750,000. The Medical Center has approximately 5,000 employees and a medical staff of more than 500 physicians. MCCG’s licensed capacity is 637 beds, including medical-surgical, obstetric, pediatric, psychiatric, cardiac intensive care, neurology intensive care, pediatric intensive care, and cardiac surgery intensive care. Thirty-four beds are leased to Regency Hospital of Central Georgia, a long-term, acute-care facility. MCCG is the primary teaching hospital for Mercer University School of Medicine, providing residency programs for almost 100 residents. MCCG provides a broad range of community-based, outpatient diagnostic, primary care, and urgent-care services, as well as an extensive home-health and hospice-care services.
About The Children's Hospital
The Children's Hospital at the Medical Center of Central Georgia provides both ambulatory care, at the Children's Health Center, or inpatient care in one of the hospital units. Children receive their care in child friendly health care settings that are staffed with pediatric experts. The Children's Hospital includes of a twelve-bed pediatric intensive care unit and 36-bed neonatal intensive care unit, which are located on the third floor of the main hospital. The 35 bed General medical surgical pediatric unit has already been relocated to the newly renovated Children's Hospital on the corner of Spring and Pine streets. The next phase will include moving the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and other specialties. Board certified pediatricians and pediatric specialists are available 24 hours a day.
